The birth of Braden Keoni Soules
Brooke had been scheduled to be induced the morning of October 24th at 6:00 AM. We were SOOOO excited to get this lil guy out and finally meet him. Little did we know it would be almost 17 hrs later when we would actually get to. Well at about 6pm after being on pitocin for about 12 hrs, finally she was at about 4 cm's and could receive her epidural after they broke her water. Just to give you a little bit of backround on this, Brooke is always very adamant about receiving this injection to say the least. And as luck would have it, the anesthesiologist happened to be in a c-section procedure. When the nurse gave us this news, I seriously thought that Brooke was going to do one of two things. Either walk out of the hospital and go to the next nearest hospital because she was soooo mad, or punch the nurse who gave us the news right in the face. Luckily instead of getting really mad, she decided to start crying instead. Then she started having a panic attack which is about the worst thing she could start doing while trying to deal with contractions that were quickly becoming more violent and closer together. So to try to help her out, I asked her father to give her a blessing which he gratefully did. So during the next hour of trying to help her through the contractions and every 5 mins going to ask the nurse when in the heck the anesthesiologist could come in, he finally arrived just in time. About 5 mins later she was a perfect little angel. No complaining, crying, or hyperventilating of any kind. I even used this opportunity to ask Brooke if she would mind if I invited her mother into the delivery room with us to watch the birth. At this point she didn't care about anything so she said it was ok. I sort of used this to my advantage because I knew she wouldn't care if I asked her after she had received her injection. Her mom was very excited to join us in the room. To make a long story short, Brooke did wonderfully given the circumstances of everything that was going on. A few hours, and just a few long pushes later and Braden was born. I cut the umbilical cord and they placed him on his mommy and then quickly took him to check him out and clean him up. Our second child was finally born.
Patiently waiting. Doesn't she look so pretty despite being so tired and anxious.

Waiting, waiting ( this was Brooke at the 12 hrs mark)....
She was on a liquid diet all day and when the nurses said she could also have life savers she was so happy and we stocked up !
And waiting some more....

And he finally arrives at 10:51 pm.
7lbs 12 oz and 20 inches long.

Daddy and his future star athlete.
Grandma and her lil' grandson.
Brooke with mom and dad shortly after delivery.
Mommy with her lil' angel.

Lana loves her new baby brother and just can't get enough of him. She is also a big help to mom.

Proud Gpa .

Perfect example of Lana already wanting to be involved with her new brother.

Brooke's mom, dad, and sis Lacey all did a wonderful job of decorating the house.

He's had a rough couple of days so we'll let him sleep a while.
So excited about being a big sister.
